Contingency plan in event of Miraheze collapse[edit]

There appears to be some internal strife within the Miraheze community. I am by far not an active member of the meta happenings in Miraheze, so my knowledge of its affairs are rather limited. From what I've read, there appears to be two issues:

  1. Owen Baines, the Chair of the Board of Directors of Miraheze Limited (from their own statement) "no longer commands the respect of the community" and announced their resignation.
  2. Void, a Miraheze steward states that part of the technical team behind Miraheze is "burned out." They are attempting a handover of responsibilities.

Brent Laabs, the former CFO for Miraheze and the co-founder of All The Tropes, states Miraheze "will not be shutting down." Given the uncertainty of Miraheze's near future, I've thought about what I'd do in the event they dissolved or became undesirable as a wiki hosting platform. If it were to happen, I'd move the Schizoid Nightmares Wiki to my (schizoidnightmares.com) website's host (Hostwinds), keeping the domain as schizoidnightmares.wiki, and retaining the use of MediaWiki. Unavoidably, this would effectively nullify any resemblance of independence from myself and the wiki, but since in practice, I am the wiki, I doubt this would be a problem... Even if in the future there is more than one contributor. I cannot presently foresee a future where my contributions do not consist the majority of content on the wiki.

The alternatives to my total control in such an event as the collapse of Miraheze (such as moving to Fandom) are worse.

All that being said, moving over to my hosting solution could pose an issue if there are other contributors, since page editing history may not be easily transferrable. I would deal with that if it came to be so. --SchizoidNightmares (talk) 16:13, 20 June 2023 (EDT)
